Location Superbly located within peaceful, quiet and pollutionfree farmland and yet within a short distance to the Pyramids, the main tourist, business, and entertainment areas. The Cataract Pyramids Resort is the only "Urban Resort" in Egypt under European Managment.
The resort, a 5 star international standard hotel, is located on the Road to Sakkra, and the oldest man made structure. The step Pyramid of Sakkara is also at a very short distance to the new freeway to the Cairo International Airport which is reached in less than 40 minutes.
The Resort, a low rise building spreading over almost 20 hectares gardens, features 400 rooms and suites in a varied choice of accommodation.
The walls shimmer with cascading water, and provide a cool feeling on a hot Egyptian summer day. This is the lobby of the relatively new Cataract Pyramids hotel in Giza. It sparkles with brass fixtures and fountains, reminding you that this is one of any number of recent five star additions to Cairo. It bills itself as the first urban resort hotel in Egypt, but that is something of a stretch considering hotels such as the Mena House. Yet this is another huge hotel complex, a growing breed in Egypt, and it does have a variety of entertainment and recreational facilities.
With 400 rooms the Cataract is indeed a super hotel, including 11 restaurants, a business center and a conference room that seats up to 1,000 people. Located in Giza, it is but a short trip to the Pyramids and other attractions in that area. This makes it great for tour groups where the bus picks everyone up each day, but it is a long walk indeed to downtown Cairo, the stores and sightseeing attractions. Basically, like other hotels in Giza, while close to the Pyramids, it is not all together suitable for the independent traveler.
Accommodation Rooms have all the modern amenities we have come to expect in Egyptian five star hotels.
